California Rollin is America’s first fusion sushi restaurant. It was here that sushi was given new and creative avatars to make it more suitable for Americans without compromising on the originality of the dish or recipe.
The first California Rollin sushi bar was opened in New York west in 1994 by Master Sushi Chef Tom Beaman Sr. Today it is the number one sushi spot to go to and has been winning awards year after year since its inception.
It is responsible for the creation of some extremely well loved sushi concoctions like “The Bubble Beach Roll”, “the Bam Roll” and “The Crunchy Crispy Tuna Roll” to only choose a few from their prize winning delicacies. The menu is very extensive with lots of options in all types of Japanese cooking styles. The nigirisushi or rice balls with raw or cooked fish on top as well as the makisushi or sushi rolls are a treat to the eyes and the stomach and heaven on your tongue.
Speaking of the maki rolls, each one has a distinctive flavor and taste that is so unusual at a sushi bar. Some of these are the Too Crazy Roll that is essentially tuna with pesto, the Louisiana Roll a medley of Louisiana goodness with a Vietnamese twist. Others like the Atlantic Roll that includes bacon, shrimp and garlic or the Carla Roll full of cream cheese, raspberries, jalapeno peppers and smoked salmon are two of the most demanded items on the menu.
That’s not all, California Rollin caters to the sweet tooth as well in Japanese sushi style. On offer are mouthwatering desserts like the Tempura Ice Cream or Cheese Cake, Albino Roll and the most wanted Dolly Ann. The menu also offers a choice of soups, salads, sushi appetizers and traditional Japanese beverages.
The ambience is laid back and quirky complimenting the menu to perfection. California Rollin has two restaurants, one on Goodman Street and the other on North River Street in Rochester NY.
